Modern science now tells us that genes are not fixed blueprints. Through the field of epigenetics, we now understand that lifestyle, environment, and consciousness can influence how genes are expressed throughout a person’s life.


Remarkably, Classical Chinese Medicine explored this same question.


During the Song dynasty, the Neo-Confucian philosopher Zhu Xi proposed that destiny is not rigidly predetermined. Through cultivation and conscious living, individuals can transform the trajectory of their lives and fulfill their deepest potential rather than remain bound by inherited patterns.
