In Part I, Jeffrey Yuen explored the Chinese medical investigation into the transformation of destiny, a subject that gained prominence during the Song Dynasty when the Neo-Confucian philosopher Zhu Xi proposed that destiny is not rigidly predetermined, but can be influenced through conscious cultivation and the fulfillment of one’s highest potential.
Examining the four facets of genetics through the lens of Jing-essence, gene information (Kidneys), gene expression (Bladder), gene modulation (San Jiao), and adaptability/mutation (Gall Bladder)—participants were introduced to acupuncture strategies based on epigenetic influences arising from lifestyle, environment, and consciousness. These approaches offered practical methods for influencing constitutional expression and modifying the trajectory of one’s destiny.
